Telefonica Research & Development

Will be demonstrating IRIS.

Where/how to obtain: This is a demonstration. The application is not yet publicly available.

What is it: IRIS is a system that uses Telefonica I+D visual object recognition technology to identify objects such as supermarket products, logos, or posters (among others), and provides a link to related services.

The mobile application works as follows:  The mobile user takes a picture of one or more objects for which she wants extra information. The objects are recognised and the application displays a list of identified + related objects. By selecting one of the listed items, the user is directed to specific services (different websites, locations, etc.) associated with that item.

How does it help? People obtain extra information just by taking a picture of a product. Imagine you have an allergy and the specific ingredient is not provided by the packaging. IRIS opens the door to dynamic information that could reassure you of the security of buying that product.

If you would like to schedule a meeting while at MWC, please send e-mail to David Marimon. Or call him +34933653226.
